  • Digital Literacy Specialist

    Digital Literacy Specialist

    Main Library / Part-Time 13-Month Contract / 17.5 hours per week

    Do you enjoy helping others gain confidence with technology? Do you love working with people and making a difference in their daily lives? We are searching for a Digital Literacy Specialist who thrives on problem-solving, enjoys teaching, and considers themselves to be a continuous learner. If you’re tech-savvy and people-friendly, this is your opportunity to turn your skills into meaningful impact. Sound like you?

    What You’ll Do:

    • Deliver one-on-one technology instruction to customers through WPL’s Tech Connect service.
    • Provide reference and reader’s advisory services to customers. Assist customers with in-library technology and troubleshooting.
    • Provide training to new staff on WPL’s e-resources and tech-related services and ongoing training to all staff on various topics.
    • Create and update customer DIY tech resources including how-to guides and training resources.

    What We’re Looking For:

    • A minimum 2 years post-secondary diploma and at least 1 year of experience including technical training, customer service, ideally in a public service setting.
    • Strong technology skills and comfort with mobile, desktop, and web-based tools.
    • A friendly, patient, and approachable manner, with the ability to explain technology clearly.
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills with a knack for solving problems.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and frequent interruptions.
    • Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and service needs.

    Schedule

    The regular schedule will be Mondays 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Thursdays 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., alternating Fridays 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and alternating Saturdays 1:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

    Friday shifts will alternate between our Eastside Branch and McCormick Branch. The ability to travel to all library locations is a requirement of this position.

    Schedules are subject to change.

    Salary/Wage/Benefits

    The starting hourly rate is $30.90 (level E).

  • Library Assistant, Collection Development

    Library Assistant, Collection Development

    Main Library / Full-Time 10-Month Contract / 35 hours per week

    We are searching for an individual who is passionate about discovering and meeting our customer’s literacy and informational needs. Someone who is analytical by nature with the ability to use data as a way to understand the larger picture within library collections. Someone who is well-versed in library trends and technology with the ability to balance multiple priorities. Sound like you?

    What You’ll Do:

    • Respond to customer purchase suggestions. Use judgement to make selection decisions.
    • Perform assigned collection development and maintenance including running reports, ordering and processing new material.
    • Assist customers with proactive reader’s advisory, reference services and library technology.
    • Acts as person in charge (PIC) at the branch locations.
    • Contribute to the development of collection marketing initiatives.

    What We’re Looking For:

    • Outstanding communication, collaboration and overall interpersonal skills.
    • Analytical thinker with the ability to make informed decisions and demonstrate good judgement.
    • Excellent technology literacy skills and stays up to date with developments and trends in libraries.
    • Library Technician Diploma or equivalent plus at least 2 years of related experience in library service or collections.

    Schedule

    The regular schedule will be Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Tuesdays 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., alternating Fridays and Saturdays 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Schedules are subject to change.

    Tuesday shifts will be located at the Eastside Branch, all other shifts will be at the Main Library. The ability to work at any library location is required.
