Create custom crafts and designs with the Cricut Maker – an easy‑to‑use cutting machine for everything from paper projects to t‑shirts, mugs, and more.

Getting Started

  • Available for use at the Eastside Branch
  • A Waterloo Public Library card is required to reserve the Cricut Maker
  • Customers must be 13 years of age or older or accompanied by an adult.
  • Reservations are for up to 2 hours and are held for 10 minutes after the start time
  • Projects must be completed within your reserved time and finish at least 30 minutes before closing
  • Customers are required to bring their own cutting materials (materials must be compatible with a fine-point blade)
  • Customers are expected to clean up the work area, tools and machine when done

  • How to Use

    Starting Your Project

    1. Login to the Cricut Computer with your valid WPL library card and open the Cricut Design Space icon.
    2. Use the WPL Design Space Access account that automatically opens on the Cricut computer OR use your own Design Space account (you may need to log out of the WPL account before signing in to your own).
    3. Select a ready-to-make project or design your own project in Design Space by pressing the green “+New Project” button in the top right corner.
    4. Select “Make It” to open the design on the canvas for cutting.

    Cutting Your Design

    1. Find an appropriate cutting mat for your project and remove the protective plastic.
    2. Place your material on the cutting mat securely.
    3. Click “Continue” to connect Design Space to the Cricut Maker.
    4. Design Space will guide you through the project steps and prompt you to select the material and tools you need for the cut. At this time, verify the thickness of any cuts you will be making based on the material you have in the design software.
    5. Insert the cutting mat and material into the rollers of the Cricut Maker and press the double arrow button on the top of the machine (it will be flashing).
    6. Guide the mat into the Cricut Maker as the rollers grab the mat.
    7. Press the flashing button to begin the cut.
    8. When the cut is finished, press the flashing button to unload the mat.
    9. If there are additional mats in the project, repeat this process as directed by Design Space.
    10. Remove the project pieces from the mat using the appropriate tools.

    Printed instruction sheets are also available with the machine when you arrive for your reserved time.
