Income Tax for Newcomers
About the Program
New to Canada and feeling unsure about income taxes? Join guest speaker Eyassu F. Negusse for a helpful income tax information session designed especially for newcomers. This session is a great opportunity to build confidence, avoid common mistakes, and better understand your rights and responsibilities as a resident of Canada. The presentation will be in English, but interpretation will be available in Tigrinya and Amharic.
Conversemos en Español - Let's Chat in Spanish
About the Program
Under the direction of a Spanish teacher, practice conversational Spanish, meet other Spanish speakers and make new friends. A basic knowledge of Spanish is necessary in order to be able to participate.
Learn to Crochet
About the Program
Learn the basic stitches of crochet and make small projects in an interactive group setting. Each week will build on what was learned in the week before. This program will be running every other Saturday, which will give participants plenty of time to practice stitches between lessons.

Join us for a special storytime with award-winning children’s author Barbara Reid as she reads her newly released book, The Story Hunter. The storytime will be followed by lively songs, hands-on activities and creative crafts.
The Great Family Geocache Challenge
About the Program
Explore the trails around the Eastside Branch by using geo-coordinates to locate hidden caches, solve their hidden mysteries and crack the ultimate code.
Reading Buddies
About the Program
Encourage a love of reading with this fun, interactive literacy program. Participants will pair up with a volunteer literacy tutor for guided reading sessions followed by language games and activities with the group.
150 Years of WPL
About the Program
Waterloo Public Library is turning 150 in 2026! This drop-in celebration kicks off a season of anniversary fun! Visit any WPL location between 2:00pm – 4:00pm to help mark this special occasion with treats, giveaways, prizes and birthday card-making activities to enjoy with friends and family.

Ukuleles & Lullabies
About the Program
Learn the basics of ukulele in this special two-part program designed for caregivers and their babies. In the first session, you’ll explore simple ukulele fundamentals and learn lullabies to play and sing for your little one. Participants can borrow a ukulele to take home and practice between sessions, then return for the second class to play together as a group and share the music you’ve learned.
