Squad: The Clique with Killer Style and a Deadly Secret

TW – Violence

Remember the cool girls at school? Well in Squad, the graphic novel written by Maggie Tokuda-Hall and illustrated by Lisa Sterle, they have much more bite to them!

New girl Becca is drawn into the clique of the most popular girls at school, at first believing that her new friends are as perfect as they seem. Under the full moon at a killer party, however, she realizes that they’re hiding a big secret: the girls are werewolves who prey on slimy guys who try to take advantage of unsuspecting girls. Not wanting to lose her new standing in the group and believing that they’re only targeting creeps, Becca agrees to join the pack. When the queen bee’s boyfriend is killed accidentally, things get a little trickier. It was one thing when their victims were boys from other schools, but this one was a little too close to home. As Becca navigates the pack dynamics, a budding romance with a new friend gives her the courage to decide who she is and what she wants.

Squad is a clever, fast-paced teen drama with a dose of humour and touch of romance. It’s Mean Girls meets Teen Wolf with clean, stylish illustrations and a story that will pull you in from the first page. It begs the question—what if teenage girls were the ones with all the power? If they were the shadowy threat lurking around every corner? According to Squad, what follows is an action-packed thriller not for the faint of heart. Although Squad is a graphic novel for teens, you don’t have to be in high school to enjoy this one!
