Kanopy Kids Makes Screentime Safe, Fun and Educational

Running out of ideas for screentime this summer? Are your kids wanting something new to watch? Check out Kanopy Kids, where you’ll find free TV shows, movies, and read-alongs for children. Unlike the full version of Kanopy, there is no limit to the amount you can stream per month on  Kanopy Kids. Children can find a new favourite show to watch or a book to read over and over again.

What’s Playing

In Kanopy Kids, children will find many of their favourite book characters in TV shows, movies, or read-alongs including Mo Willems’ Pigeon, Tom Gates, Franklin, Arthur, Pinkalicious, The Busy World of Richard Scarry and more. Your children will also find favourite TV shows like Masha and the Bear, Blippi and Strawberry Shortcake. Plus, children can also get moving with Cosmic Kids yoga videos.

In addition to TV shows and movies, there are different types of read-alongs including animated stories that display the text of the story called VOOKS. While most of the content is in English, there is a collection of signed books and read-alongs in Hindi and Spanish.

Safety First

Caregivers can set parental controls to make sure kids are viewing age-appropriate content on Kanopy. With Parental Controls set, a PIN is required to exit Kanopy Kids. You may be prompted to set up parental controls the first time you access Kanopy Kids.

To set up Parental Controls:

  1. Navigate to Kanopy;
  2. Click on your name in the top left corner;
  3. Click on My Account;
  4. The menu displays an option for Parental Controls where you can enter a 4-digit PIN and Turn ON the control.

Where to Watch

Kanopy Kids can be accessed on a browser using a computer, on the Kanopy app using Apple or Android devices, or can be cast to a TV using common Smart TV / casting devices. You need an existing Kanopy account to cast to a TV or use the Kanopy app, so be sure to set up your account first.
