Locations & Hours

The Waterloo Public Library system is comprised of three locations.  Each location offers the traditional and much loved library services that the community expects, such as strong book, movie, magazine, newspaper and music collections, geared to old and young with an emphasis on programming for children of all ages.  Each location also offers technology-based services, such as downloadable content (eBooks, eAudio and eVideo), WiFi, free computer use, self-checkout kiosks and digital reference service.

Riding the Bus to WPL?

The following bus routes travel near the Main Library:

  • #5 Erb West / Lancaster Eastbridge#7 C, D, E
  • #35 (which becomes #5 when it leaves the UpTown) and the iXpress both travel to UpTown Waterloo

The following bus routes travel near the John M. Harper Branch:

  • Grand River Transit’s #13 has a bus stop right across the street from Harper, at Laurelwood and Fischer-Hallman.
  • GRT’s 201 iExpress also has a stop at Fischer-Hallman and Columbia, for those willing to walk a couple of blocks.

The following bus routes travel near the McCormick Branch:

  • #9 Lakeshore

There are also iXpress stops at Albert McCormick Community Centre and in UpTown Waterloo. Visit Grand River Transit’s website at http://www.grt.ca/ for all bus schedules.

Interlibrary Loan

If we do not own a particular book, journal or microfilm, you may borrow it from another library through Interlibrary Loan.
