You Belong Here

20-35 year olds, what can WPL do for you - book clubs, DIY days, gamer nights – we want to hear from you!

You Belong Here

The You Belong Here project is designed to reach parents in their 20s and 30s who may not feel a connection with their community.

The goal of the project is to proactively create spaces, activities and adult programming that fosters authentic interaction amongst adults attending our programs.

To achieve this goal Waterloo Public Library, with the funding from the Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation, has designed a 3 phase project that focuses on building community relationships and a sense of belonging.

The first phase of the project is to introduce new toys and manipulatives into the Children’s Departments to proactively create spaces, activities and programming that foster authentic interactions amongst parents attending our early learning programs and spaces with their children.

The second phase of the project sees WPL taking programming to the East end of Waterloo. This approach will help us to connect with individuals not currently using library programs and services.

Phase three of implementation will see the creation of special programming for young parents that is shaped by their input. This programming could take on a range of formations, and will depend heavily on the feedback of families in our community.
