Tom Clancy

Born in 1947 in Maryland, Clancy attended Loyola Blakefield, graduating with the class of 1965. He went on to study English Literature at Loyola College, graduating with the class of 1969. Before making his literary debut, Clancy surprisingly ran an independent insurance business.

In 1984, Clancy’s dream came true when The Hunt for Red October was published. It was the first in the popular Jack Ryan series. Hunt for Red October sold briskly as a result of rave reviews, then catapulted onto the New York Times bestseller list after President Reagan praised it in public.
