Stuart Woods
Woods was born in a small town in Georgia. He attended the University of Georgia and graduated with a BA in Sociology. Following university, he spent a year in Atlanta before moving to New York in search of a writing career. Instead, he ended up working in an advertising agency for almost 10 years. After spending time living and sailing in England and Ireland, Woods returned to Georgia and wrote two non-fiction books. Then, in 1981, eight years after he started writing it, Chiefs, Woods’s first novel, was published. The book won the Edgar Allen Poe award. In 2006, his thirty-third novel, Short Straw, was published.
