Maeve Binchy

Novelist, short story writer, and journalist, Binchy was born in Dublin in 1940. She took a history degree at University College, Dublin and taught in various girls’ schools. Her first published work was a collection of humourous travel articles which are long out of print. Her next three were collections of short stories. In 1982 her first novel, Light a Penny Candle, was published and became a best seller, like all other Binchy titles.

If you like reading books about family life in contemporary Ireland and the U.K., you’re sure to enjoy these authors too.
