Anne McCaffrey

Anne McCaffrey was born in 1926 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She graduated cum laude from Radcliffe College, majoring in Slavonic Languages and Literatures. After a career as a character actress and full-time Mom, she turned her attention to writing. She had a number of short stories published before her first novel, Restoree. McCaffrey is best known for her Dragonriders of Pern series. She lived in Wicklow County, Ireland until her death in 2011.
