Cell Phones & Pagers
The use of cell phones and pagers in the library can prove disruptive to customers and staff. In order to provide an environment that respects the use of the library by everyone, the Waterloo Public Library applies the following restrictions to the use of cell phones and pagers in the library.
Policy
Library customers and staff must turn off the ringer or other audible signal for their cell phones and/or pagers upon entering the library. Alternatively, these devices may be set to vibrate. Library customers and staff making or receiving calls shall leave the main public areas of the library. Conversations by members of the public using cell phones may take place only in the lobbies of the Main Library and the McCormick Branch.
Library staff will ask people engaged in cell phone conversations to move to the designated areas.
Refusal to comply with a request, or with this policy and its intent, may result in a request to leave the library.
