What does a Library membership cost?
Library membership is free to all residents of Waterloo Region, which naturally includes Waterloo, Kitchener and Cambridge. Registration with the Waterloo Public Library is required in order to borrow materials.
For customers residing outside of the areas mentioned above, membership at WPL may still be obtained at a cost of $20.00 per year. However, beginning January 1, 2008, this membership fee will be incresed to $35.00 per year or $20.00 for 6 months.
How old must a child be to become a member of the Waterloo Public Library?
Memberships are available to children of all ages.
How long does it take to get a membership?
Just minutes. A form must be completed. The information from the form is entered on our database immediately. Children 12 and under must have a parent or guardian sign their membership card. The signing parent/guardian is responsible for all materials borrowed on the card and for any fines and fines accumulated.
What does a library membership entitle your child to?
A world of reading and much, much more including DVDs, CDs, videos, recorded books, magazines, and children’s programs. In order to have access to the free Internet and games computers in the Children’s Department, a child must have an active children’s library card. These cards only allow access to the computers in the Children’s Department.
What if the card is lost?
If your card is lost or stolen, please report it immediately. The replacement cost of a library card is $3.00.
