Our Collections Department staff scour the new book releases and select books with buzz that we think you’ll want to know about. They're excited to share the Summer 2017 list!
There is something for everyone. From the fun of Kevin Kwan (remember Crazy Rich Asians?) to first rate mysteries with Anthony Horowitz’ Magpie Murders and The Marsh King’s Daughter. We welcome the first new book from Arundhati Roy in 20 years, The Ministry of Utmost Happiness and of course, we had to acknowledge the much-buzzed-about Essex Serpent. We’re rooting for the debut novel Midnight at the Bright Ideas Bookstore (who can resist a bookstore after hours?) and Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine and of course there are many others.
Our selections run from culture to sports, space to history, and of course food! Imagine not being allowed to drive on account of being a woman. Manal Al-Sharif shares the consequences of Daring to Drive in Saudi Arabia. And what summer would be complete without baseball – take a summer stroll to the diamond with Baseball Life Advice from Stacey May Fowles. History buffs, we have Churchill & Orwell for you and Apollo 8 for those fascinated by space travel. As for Feast, this beautiful cookbook is the product of a cross-Canada-food-love-expedition and one you just may want to have in your own collection.
Have a terrific summer. We hope it's full of sunshine, fun and great reads!
