The Waterloo Public Library provides free wireless access to the Internet at the Main Library, the McCormick Branch, and the John M. Harper Branch.
If you are interested in volunteering, pick up a volunteer registration form at any circulation desk and return it to the Library. Volunteers must be 14 years of age and older. Registrants will be contacted for an interview if a suitable position becomes available.
There are many ways you can help support Waterloo Public Library.
Supporting WPL means that you’re helping everyone to access the information and life-long learning opportunities that are central to growing, vibrant community, and that are the cornerstone of a literate and democratic society.
Waterloo Public Library has a large collection of audiobooks on CD available for borrowing, as well as download/eBook options.
A hold is a reservation for a particular item in the Library’s collection. You can place holds in person, online or on the phone. We will notify you when the item is ready.
Two meeting rooms are available to rent at the Main Library at modest rates. A meeting room will be available at the John M. Harper Branch; details coming soon.
Reader’s Corner has lists of best sellers, good reads recommended by staff, books by genre and an assortment of weblinks for book lovers. You are also welcome to visit the Information Desk at the library and ask us!
Access to your library account is protected by a PIN (Personal Identification Number). A numeric PIN is needed to use the library’s computers, to place holds, to renew material online, to use self-checkout, and to access online databases and services including Reading History and Preferred Searches. Getting your PIN is easy!
For your convenience, you may renew in person, online or over the telephone. Details on renewing material.
WPL has a book club at the Main Library (35 Albert Street). It’s an open club, which allows for people to drop in and attend once in a while, or to come faithfully every month. There will be another book club at the John M. Harper Branch; details coming soon.
