Volunteering

Our volunteers’ helping hands make things happen!

In 2007, 161 volunteers donated 3,050 hours of their time to a variety of tasks. This works out to approximately 58.7 hours per week.

Volunteers assisted with:

  • the shelving of books
  • straightening and ordering of our shelves
  • covering new books
  • tallying Zehrs grocery tapes
  • vertical file clipping
  • preparation for children’s programs
  • rotation of paperback collections
  • posting community information brochures
  • Visiting Library Service
  • computer orientations … and much more!

Interested?

If you are interested in volunteering, pick up a volunteer registration form at any circulation desk and return it to the Library. Volunteers must be 14 years of age and older. Registrants will be contacted for an interview if a suitable position becomes available. Depending on the nature of a volunteer placement, police and reference checks may be required along with car insurance verification. Probationary periods may apply to some positions.

Volunteers who successfully complete the interview process and are placed in a position will be given an orientation of the Library and appropriate training.

Volunteer application forms are available at the Circulation Desk and the Information Desk at the Main Library, and at the McCormick Branch.
