Residents of Waterloo & Kitchener

Library membership is free for anyone residing in Waterloo.  Under WPL’s reciprocal borrowing program, members of the Kitchener, Cambridge, Region of Waterloo, Brant County and Hamilton Region public library systems can also join WPL for free.  Individuals are expected to get a card from their own library system before joining WPL.

Memberships are renewed once a year with a quick confirmation of your personal information.

How Do I Get a Card?

Simply bring one (1) piece of identification with your name and current address to the library and we’ll provide you with a free membership.

Residents of Other Areas

For customers residing outside of the areas mentioned above, membership at WPL may still be obtained.   Simply bring one (1) piece of identification with your name and current address to the library, and we’ll provide you with a card at a cost of $35.00 per year or $20.00 for 6 months.

Cards for Kids

Children of any age can get a library card – even babies! Children 12 years of age and under must have a parent or legal guardian sign the card.

University and College Students

Bring just one (1) piece of identification with your name and current address e.g. rent receipt or other proof of local address and we’ll provide you with a card.
